Broadly speaking, my practice is an investigation into environments. More specifically I’m interested in various, opposing sub-themes that relate to the environment both natural and built. Themes such as; transience/endurance, control/chaos, and perfection/imperfection. I’m interested in the tension that these discordant pairings present and how they echo life’s own contradictions.
I explore my subject in many ways but my studio practice revolves around the relationships between environments, materials and mark making both conscious and unconscious. Photography also plays a central part in my working method, I use found images as well as my own to develop ideas and to create new work.
My ultimate aim is always to uncover something less tangible about my subject.
