Pete Clarke is an artist who explores the social landscape, concepts of the city, modernity as history utilising painting, printmaking, drawing and poetic text.
Old poems and half remembered quotations, images of city streets and suburban parks, follies and monuments create an initial subject for the paintings. His work is metaphoric with poetic images navigating sites, spaces and places.
He studied at Burnley Municipal College, Bristol Polytechnic and Chelsea School of Art and was Principal Lecturer in Fine Art at University of Central Lancashire, Preston until 2014.
He is now working as an artist at the Bluecoat Studios, Liverpool.
